The Premier Kilimanjaro Route
The Lemosho Route is widely considered to be the best ascent route on Mount Kilimanjaro, offering the complete Kilimanjaro experience with more acclimatization time, rich cultural encounters, and spectacular scenery throughout the journey.
This route approaches Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning in the lush rainforest and traversing the Shira Plateau before joining the Machame Route. The gradual ascent profile allows for excellent acclimatization, significantly increasing your chances of reaching the summit.
Our itinerary ascends via Stella Point and NOT the Western Breach, making it a safer route while still providing breathtaking views and a night in the Kibo caldera for those who choose the 8-day option.

Lemosho Route Map

The Lemosho Route begins at Londorossi Gate on the western side of Kilimanjaro, traverses the Shira Plateau, and joins the Machame Route at Lava Tower before continuing to the summit via Barafu Camp.
Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa
A 3.5-hour drive from our hotel in Moshi brings us to the Londorossi Park Gate located on the western side of Mt. Kilimanjaro. At the gate is where your permit will be issued. Then, we will go to the starting point called Lemosho Glades (2,100 m.).
We shall trek along rain forest in which we might encounter the sign of elephants, white and black Colobus monkeys and Blue monkeys. The flora and fauna are richer here than on the other more popular routes through the rain forest. In about 3-4 hours, we will reach our camp in the rain forest at Mti Mkubwa (2,620 m.)

Most able-bodied persons aged 10 and older can hike Mt. Kilimanjaro; however, preparation, precaution and care must be made to ensure everyone's safety.
The Lemosho Route is designed to provide excellent acclimatization, with a gradual ascent profile that helps reduce the risk of altitude sickness. The route includes several "climb high, sleep low" opportunities, which are beneficial for acclimatization.
We recommend that all trekkers:
- Consult with a doctor before attempting the climb
- Get proper vaccinations and medications for Tanzania
- Train physically for several months before the trek
- Stay well-hydrated throughout the journey
- Listen to your guides and be honest about how you're feeling
- Consider taking altitude sickness medication (after consulting with a doctor)
Our experienced guides are trained to monitor your health throughout the trek and will take appropriate action if any issues arise.
